Miniature USB Powered Amplifier for Laptops

There’s been a strategy in market of buying USB powered speakers for laptops. These speakers usually drives power from one available USB port and inputs audio signal from headphone port, thus consuming two ports of a notebook. Lets see how much output these kind of speakers can give.

A USB port delivers maximum 500mA current and at 5Volts, it comes to max 0.5×5=2.5Watts. So, if our circuit eats 0.5-1Watts power, only 1.5Watt is left for speakers output. Now you might ask 1.5watt wouldn’t create much sound. But believe me, under good conditions, this 1.5Watts is much more than expected. And this time we are going to use 0.5Watt-4Ohm x 2nos speakers.

These speakers are flat type having magnet inside them, and available at wholesale electronics shop in around 30rs per piece. For speaker box, use old jumbo matches box like homelite box. And for circuit, you need is an audio amplifier circuit capable of giving 0.5Watt output at each channel.

Here we will use a general purpose stereo amplifier TDA2822M IC, which comes in 8pin DIP package and usually found in mini walk-mans, etc. This IC can give up to 450 mW/channel with 4-ohm loudspeaker at 5V supply which is near our requirement.

The datasheet of TDA2822M can be downloaded in PDF format here (PDF, 362KB). The expense in making this circuit is no more than 25 rupees. Hence the total cost becomes 30+30+25=85rupees, and if we add the cost of wires, jacks etc then it well fits under 100rupees. It’s a very cheap solution when USB speakers in market costs more than 300 rupees.

Multi Sound For Guitars

Electric guitars use coils (guitarists call them pickups or elements) to convert the vibrations of the strings into an electrical signal. Usually, a guitar has more than one element builtin, so that the musician can select with a switch which element or elements are used to generate the signal. Because of the differences in construction of the elements and the varying positions of where they are mounted, each element sounds different. The elements can be roughly divided into two categories. There are the so-called ‘single-coils’ and ‘humbuckers’. Single coil elements are elements that contain one core and coil for each string. Humbuckers can be regarded as two elements that are connected in series. Many humbuckers have four connections (actually two single-coils with two connections each).

Multi-Sound For Guitars Circuit DiagramThese two individual coils are usually interconnected with fixed wiring so that they are always used in series. The circuit proposed here offers the possibility of using a hum-bucker with four connections in no less than four different modes, each of which having its own sound. The only things that have to be changed on the guitar are the wiring and the addition of a four-position switch. The latter requires drilling holes in the guitar of course, but if there is a control cover plate (along the lines of a Fender Stratocaster, for example) then it makes sense to put the switch there. This avoids the need for drilling holes in the wood while keeping an (expensive) guitar reasonably unmarred. The schematic shows what the various things look like, electrically speaking, before and after the multisound modification.

zBot 10 A Power Stage for DC Motor

If\r\n you take a look at the chassis of the zBot vehicle1, you’ll find two sections \r\nrequiring intelligent keep a watch on: the steerage servo and the DC motor. The \r\nso known as H-bridge is the normal circuit for electronic control of \r\nrevolution pace and route. The DC motor of a Tamiya automobile is powerful\r\n sufficient to propel zBot at as so much as 20 miles per hour.
The\r\n motor then consumes more than 10 A, so we make a selection high-current energy \r\nMOSFETs for the cause force stage. There are numerous totally different softwares to \r\nchoose from. The MOSFET we require has to provide the maximum motor \r\ncurrent and, importantly, it needs to be switched with gate voltages of \r\nabout 5 V. In this case, the microcontroller switches the ability stage \r\n(‘low aspect’) directly. For high aspect riding degree shifters are \r\nnecessary. The schematic of the H-bridge power stage presentations a few \r\ninverters, NAND gates and two tri-stateable drivers. These logic \r\nfunctions are essential as the better approach, i.e.., in an instant \r\ncontrolling all 4 MOSFET has a fatal disadvantage.

In\r\n case of a software crash it may well happen that two ore extra MOSFETs are \r\nswitched on incor-rectly for exam-ple, T4 and T7. In that case, the \r\ncurrent throughout the transistors is proscribed by using the interior resistors of \r\nthe MOSFETs (about 10 mO) simplest. Such a deadly error would destroy the \r\nMOSFETs. The common sense performs configured here successfully avoid illegal \r\nstates.To keep an eye fixed on the DC motor, three signals are needed: DIR, PWM and \r\nSTOP. DIR regulates the path of the motor revolution, PWM the rate,\r\n and STOP brakes the motor.

The\r\n software program module for the DC motor is called dcm.c.(070172-I) The \r\ncomplete document referred to as Zbot  the Robot Experimental Platform is \r\navailable free of charge downloading from the Elektor Electronics site. The\r\n file quantity is 070172-11.zip (July/August 2007).

Signal Conditioning Circuit for KMI 15 x Rotation Speed Sensor

This is a design circuit for modulated current that is provided by the integrated rotational speed sensor KMI 15/x. This current signal must be converted to ground referenced voltage signal, matching the logic levels of the processing unit for digital signal processing. This signal conditioning can be done by using this circuit. This circuit is consists of protective elements to suppress line conducted interference and low pass filter in front of the comparator input. This is the figure of the circuit;

This circuit uses first-order RC low pass filter as signal filter. This circuit is made of C4 and R3 with cut off frequency of 10 kHz. This cut off frequency is used to achieve an optimum absorption of noise.

How to choose the best for your home theater system

Watching movies is a neat escape from the stressful lifestyle we live in. Watching movies in a wide screen and surround sound take you far away and into the movie scene you are watching. You watch it as if you were there in the movie scene. Of late, we can only experience this escape in a cinema. However, modern technology may be able to provide this same sight and sound experience right in your own living room. We will discuss the basic components of a home theater system in this article. Read on to understand how these basic components can deliver the best cinematic experience to a home theater system.

How to choose the best for your home theater system Home theater experts state that the most important consideration in setting up a home theater system is the size of the room where you will set up the home theater system. The most important component of the home theater system, which is the television, is dependent on the size of the room. Although, the recommendation is 27 inches television set at a minimum is necessary for your home theater set up. It is also a recommendation that a flat television is good for a home theater system because it exhibits fewer glares and produces a crisper image.

Another major component of a home theater system that depends on the size of the room is the speaker. The number of speakers for your home theater system is dependent on the size of the room. You may add up to six speakers from the basic three speakers if you want a more lifelike sound. Adding a subwoofer may also be good to achieve a complete surround sound like in the movie theaters. Three speakers should be the minimum; you may go up to six if the room is big.

Another major for your home theater system is the DVD player. It is a recommendation that DVD players with progressive scan will be the best choice. This is because progressive scan produces sharp and flicker-free pictures. This however points back to the choice of television unit; you may need to check if the flat television set supports progressive scan signals. You may also acquire a five-disk carrousel DVD player. This will avoid having to stand up from your seat to change discs every so often. A minor consideration is the power rating that will determine how loud your speaker can be. Of course, almost all these depend on the size of the room to where the home theater system is going to be set up. Small room requires from few types of equipment, bigger rooms may require more and adding home theater furniture to your home theater system may be best. A bigger room thus requires more investments. A smaller room might require fewer but of good quality equipments to avoid the too basic feel of the home theater system.

Finally, you may acquire a beautifully designed home theater system if you consider hiring a home theater expert. If you can afford this, it will be best for you because the home theater expert will be able to effectively design and set up your home theater system. Your home theater designer may also add some features like home theater seating and other home theater furniture to be able to give the complete home theater package that closely resembles a real movie theater. Having the finest and high-quality home theater system will give you the most sought after set up that you could flaunt and enjoy to the max.
